EDGAR LUSTGARTEN (APRIL 14, 1916, CHICAGO, ILLINOIS, USA – AUGUST 24, 1979, LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA, USA)

 

 

 

 

A pupil and later assistant of the celebrated cellist Emanuel Feuerman, was a member of the NBC Symphony when Arturo Toscanini conducted it. Mr. Lustgarten has been principal cellist of the St. Louis Symphony, cellist with the NBC Quartet, the Mischakoff Quartet, and Pacific Arts Trio. He presented the world premiere of the Ward-Steinman Cello Concerto with the Tokyo Philharmonic.
