FRITZ BEREND (HANOVER, GERMAN EMPIRE, 10 MARCH, 1889 – LONDON, ENGLAND, 29 DECEMBER, 1955)

 

 

 

 

Hampstead jewish pianist, conductor, musicologist, doctor of philosophy, 1907-1913 studied at the Akademie der Tonkunst in Munchen, 1915-1924 conductor at the Stadtheater in Freiburg, 1924-1926 conductor of the city orchestra, the Mannerchor and Oratoriumchor in Kaiserslautern, 1926-1931 conductor at the Stadttheater in Osnabruck, 1932-1936 intendant and conductor of the Stadttheater in Munster, 1937-1939 he had fled the nazis to Florence, 1939 conductor of the Carl Rosa Opera and music teacher at the University in London.
