NICOLAI MEDNIKOFF (RUSSIA, 1890 – WHITE PLAINS, NEW YORK, APRIL 19, 1942)
The Russian pianist, Nikolai Mednikoff was a student at the Petrograd Conservatory. He made his recital debut in Berlin at age 14. He came to the USA in 1914. He concertised and recorded with Pablo Casals, and in 1929 established the Westchester Conservatory. He died in White Plains, New York in 1942, as the result of suicide by shooting himself through the heart in his Conservatory office.
