Description

THE PASQUIER TRIO

The Pasquier Trio, founded in 1927 by three brothers – violinist Jean Pasquier (1904-1992), once a member of the Paris Opera Orchestra; violist Pierre Pasquier (1902-1986); and cellist Etienne Pasquier and dissolved in 1974, was the most illustrious and enduring French chamber formation. One of the most useful too, in the long term, since, thanks to it, the repertoire of the string trio has been enriched with seventy new scores (Roussel, Milhaud, Martinu or Schmitt). The trio also played in a quartet, sometimes with the most illustrious pianists (Jean Doyen and Marguerite Long, among others), sometimes with the flutist Jean-Pierre Rampal or the oboist Pierre Pierlot, even as a sextet or in an octet, embracing the vast field of chamber music.
